Short bio

Dejan Menges is a staff engineer with more than twenty-five years spent designing distributed systems. He works on moving organisations from monoliths to scalable, event-driven architectures, and builds Enola, an open-source architecture intelligence tool for developers and coding agents.

Long bio

Dejan Menges has spent over twenty-five years building and operating distributed systems, most of that time on the unglamorous half of the problem: what happens to an architecture after the design document is approved. He currently works as a staff engineer at Vinted, where his focus has been taking a successful monolith and turning it into a platform that serves users across continents - centralised writes, regional read projections, and the eventual consistency, retries and partial failures that come with them.

He is the author and maintainer of Enola, an open-source tool that turns a codebase into a queryable architecture graph so that developers, coding agents and CI can catch architectural regressions before they are committed - using parsers and graph algorithms rather than model inference. He also writes augur, an open-source tool for finding what is hidden in a file, aimed at the instruction files coding agents load into context on every session. He co-founded FairwayHub, a social platform for golf communities now being wound down, and has contributed to open source since long before it was a hiring signal.

He writes about architecture at menges.dev and on the Vinted engineering blog, and speaks about event-driven systems, multi-region architecture, and what deterministic tooling can do for AI-assisted development.
